Bitcoin & Markets: Macro, money, geopolitics and news LIKE AND COMMENT!! In this live stream replay, I discuss bitcoin's recent price action and its relation to other markets. I also spend some time trying to articulate the tidal nature of markets. We have enter a pre-recessionary time, and while prices can fluctuate or seemingly reverse for a period, like a week or two, the trend is still intact toward a recession. Pre-recession includes falling yields, rising stocks and rising safe havens. Imminent-recession period, like the 1 month before the recession officially starts, we will get a slightly different behavior. Yields will crash rapidly as stocks sell-off some of their pre-recession gains. I expect bitcoin to be similar here, but also benefit from network effects of adoption. Bitcoin should also get a cash-related bid in the imminent-recession period. Next, we watch Cathie Wood talk about the ETF. Nothing super new here other than she uses my exact language that "bitcoin is a hedge against inflation AND DEFLATION." Thanks for listening. Shadow Banking Secrets: Collateral Multiplier - E374

Bitcoin & Markets: Macro, money, geopolitics and news LIKE AND COMMENT!!   In this episode, I discuss collateral re-use and collateral multiplier. Similar to Fractional Reserve Banking, collateral rehypothication creates a hyper-elastic environment for US Treasuries, in good times. In bad times, this behemoth takes time to turn, but when it does collateral chains start to shorten and their is a move into the primary market for US Treasuries. This causes rates to at first look like a dollar shortage and turn into a collateral shortage, a certain period prior to credit events or recession. Right now, with rates still going up, we can know the shadow banking system has not turned yet, and we have at least 6-12 months left before a recession will hit. Enjoy.   Thanks for listening. In this one, I react to Gary Gensler in front of Congress, discuss Chinese debt to GDP vs other economies, and the possibility of a rotation back into equities for the remainder of the year. You've probably seen the Gensler videos, but I link them below. The main through-line of my reaction is that it is a lie that there is no clarity on the question of altcoins being unregistered securities, it is just that the purveyor of those securities don't want to accept it. Bitcoiners have clearly stated why for years and now the SEC is going after people. That's all that needs to be said, it is pretty common sense. The lack of clarity, or uncertainty, out there in the market is from the gaslighting of purveyors of those unregistered securities. Next, I discuss the Chinese debt to GDP nightmare. It is simply astonishing the level to which China is built on a house of cards. Lastly, I talk about the market in general being overweight bonds relative to equities, and if we don't get the massive crisis recession everyone is expecting soon, we could see the rotation back into equities.
