Economics
Lyn Alden's latest market update (https://www.lynalden.com/july-2023-newsletter/) builds on her article charting the relationship between interest rates and inflation (https://www.lynalden.com/inflation-vs-interest-rates/). Since conventional central bank focused economics is posited on interest rates influencing inflation, it's a precient topic.
Lyn points to the International Monetary Fund's, a multinational financial organization, paper on using inflation and financial repression (https://www.imf.org/en/Publications/WP/Issues/2016/12/31/The-Liquidation-of-Government-Debt-42610) to solve goverment debt crisis

Ripple has won a victory over the SEC as a US judge rules that selling XRP tokens to VCs is illegal but fine when dumping on retail (https://prestonbyrne.com/2023/07/13/ripple-labs-ruling-throws-u-s-crypto-token-regulation-into-disarray/)
The ruling is unlikely to hold (https://nitter.net/BryanJacoutot/status/1679539619312853028#m) and this case might be more about what happens to Etherium
The real question is how Bitcoin is interpreted via the Howey Test (https://jacoutotonlaw.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bitcoin_Crypto-Securities-analysis02.pdf) (PDF WARNING)
Proof of Stake on ETH has resulted in increased demand for liquid staking tokens (https://insights.glassnode.com/the-week-onchain-week-27-2023/?utm_campaign=woc_27__2023&utm_medium=woc_newsletter&utm_source=email), centralizing staking and network consensus, also average holdings are ~$100k so this is a big fish game, plebs need not apply

Great episode, gentlemen. Great discussion on mis/disinformation. Has been my thoughts on the issue for a while. I read this good article on KYC/AML and thought you might want to review. I worked at banks for a while and always had to take yearly training on it. Hate it. https://disruptives-horizons.com/p/kyc-aml-destroying-world

The confirmations came after Fortune reported (https://fortune.com/crypto/2023/07/06/binance-crisis-executives-quit-changpeng-zhao-justice-department/) multiple Binance senior executives were resigning amid regulatory investigations and lawsuits.

Economics
Christine Laguard's speach at the Council on Foreign Relations earlier this year, reveals the ECB announced the end of central bank independence (https://www.cfr.org/event/c-peter-mccolough-series-international-economics-christine-lagarde) and further fragmentation of the dollar system
She also casually points out that there are no property right guarantees in the dollar system:
> For a start, an economic policy mix that produces less volatile growth and inflation will be key in continuing to attract international investment. And although 50 to 60 percent of foreign-held U.S. short-term assets are in the hands of governments with strong ties to the United States—those that I think Janet Yellen calls the “friends,” meaning that they’re unlikely to be divested for geopolitical reasons—the single most important factor influencing international currency usage remains the strength of fundamentals. And by that, we know that it is the rule of law, strong respected institution, as well as open capital markets.

The 'misinformation industrial complex' is being academically formalized (https://misinforeview.hks.harvard.edu/article/mis-and-disinformation-studies-are-too-big-to-fail-six-suggestions-for-the-fields-future/) and a Harvard think tank is refreshingly self-reflective on what that means for society

Bitcoin Optech Newsletter #256 discusses the dry but consensus shaping implications of different transaction relay policies (https://bitcoinops.org/en/newsletters/2023/06/21/), which helps illustrate the hot mess of decentralized consensus and how this really is a huge experiment
On the other end of the spectrum, identical policies across the network help converge mempool contents. A network with matching mempools relays transactions the most smoothly, and is also ideal for fee estimation (https://bitcoinops.org/en/newsletters/2023/06/07/#waiting-for-confirmation-4-feerate-estimation) and compact block relay (https://bitcoinops.org/en/newsletters/2023/05/17/#waiting-for-confirmation-1-why-do-we-have-a-mempool) as mentioned in previous posts.
