“You can’t live in a bitcoin.” Ben Gunn Returns as Atlas Shrugs.
In case you missed our first conversation or want to re listen, heres the link. https://ungovernablemisfits.com/podcast/bitcoin-wins-faster-through-collaboration-with-antomousb-copy/ Ben Gunn Returns as Atlas Shrugs Intro Quote: “The Solution to Pollution is Dilution” --Ben Gunn Show Description Our friend and fellow pleb, Ben Gunn returns to the show after a testing couple of years in Bitcoin and the wider world, to share what has worked for him, what hasn't, and his thoughts and plans for the future. This is a fantastic follow-up interview to first episode we did in 2021, which if you haven't heard, you must and is here. In this episode, Max and Ben take a stroll around the park in Amsterdam, Netherlands to catch up on what he's been up to since we last met on his woodland back in simpler times. We kick off by reviewing life in the Fiat Mines, and how things are deteriorating in day to day work and relationships. Red tape, higher costs of getting stuff done, how the average person is affected and how it can't continue forever. We discuss the transformational power of acknowledging negative observations and turning them into positive actions. How there are just some things that we have no ability to influence or control, and that it's okay to switch off the doom vendors and focus on what you can build in reply. Getting fit and staying focussed on what's really important. We address the problem of when it's the right time to quit and where it's best to relocate in an increasingly uncertain world. The attractiveness of new locations such as El Salvador, and how leaving a broken system behind can fix many things, but not everything, and how it's all part of a much bigger cycle. The growing relevance of Atlas Shrugged to the world we're seeing around us, and what we can learn from the novel in today's context. We also announce a new project – a series of future shows that will analyse the book from the perspectives of Bitcoiners and as living people in a world of zombies, and help a new reader get to the end! We finish off talking about the pro's and con's of Bitcoin conferences and podcast business models, the pro's and con's of advertising based income vs Value for Value approach. We talk about the risk shifting behaviour of the dominant podcasts, and the impact on the listener's finances, as well as the overwhelming generosity and support of our own loyal fan base. Key Takeaways: The Fiat Mines are getting harder to work in. Where to focus your attention and turn a negative situation into a positive outcome. Meeting Bitcoiners in real life can be an amazing experience, but you can't trust everyone. Zombies are real and how we should be thinking about that in our real lives. Atlas Shrugged is a book written for our times, and we all should learn who John Galt is. Risk shifting behaviour in Bitcoin Podcasts and Conferences, and what to do about it. “Money is a tool of exchange, which can’t exist unless there are goods produced and men able to produce them. Money is the material shape of the principle that men who wish to deal with one another must deal by trade and give value for value. Money is not the tool of the moochers, who claim your product by tears, or of the looters, who take it from you by force. Money is made possible only by the men who produce. Is this what you consider evil?”

Bitcoin Mining: Adapt or Die with Nick Hansen & Matthew Williams
“The reason this is actually different is because there is actual proof-of-work, there is demonstrable economic activity happening…you’re just giving up some of the yield, or some of the margin that you would produce from that mining yield to somebody that financed your operation.”— Nick HansenToday we have two representatives of the Bitcoin mining firm Luxor Technology: Nick Hansen, CEO, and Matthew Williams, Head of Derivatives. In this interview, we discuss derivative trading, the potential impact of the BlackRock ETF on the market, the challenges Bitcoin miners face, the political and economic situation in Argentina, and the importance of hedging in business operations. - - - - Bitcoin’s price has been relatively stable for well over a year. Whilst prices have recovered from the cycle lows seen in November 2022, the rapid price swings, which have been a feature of the market since its launch, have subsided. Nevertheless, a series of events are aligning that raise the prospect of a renewed period of volatility in the near future: the approval of a spot ETF, the Bitcoin halving, and further macro shocks. The issue for capital investment in the Bitcoin mining space is that such volatility distorts and stresses normal business management practices. There have been numerous mining companies that have suffered existential crises because they have over-extended at the wrong time, or, they have had ineffective hedging strategies. Luxor aims to help improve the cost of capital for Bitcoin miners through the introduction of new derivative products. Luxor’s strategy is predicated on hashrate being treated as an asset class; miners are able to sell their hashrate forward, guaranteeing a return. The contracts are determined by an agreed hashprice, which is a function of various variables: the block subsidy, transaction fees, network difficulty, and bitcoin price. These contracts are then tradable as derivatives, which enables investors to gain exposure to Bitcoin mining without needing to be physically involved. Luxor is also working on additional financial products, including what will be a controversial yield instrument. There is still significant hesitancy in the community around such markets, and it will take time to build liquidity. Perhaps a new approach can renew demand for lending. And, if anyone can pull this off, who better than a diversified company that weathered a brutal bear market that aggressively showed who was naked when the tide went out?- - - - This episode’s sponsors:Iris Energy - Bitcoin Mining. Being A Doctor During 'The Hysteria' & The Future Of Medicine w/ Remnant MD
The future of the bitcoin economy will not only be people transacting in bitcoin, but people of all backgrounds, educations, and experiences re-interpreting their professions (and much else), through a 'bitcoin lens'.
In keeping with the 'quest for truth' which bitcoin seems to inspire, many people who have gone down the 'bitcoin rabbit hole' have begun questioning the standard dogma as it relates to health, fitness, nutrition, medicine, and have been seeking (and finding) more truthful information and perspectives to integrate into their lives (to great benefit!).
'Remnant MD' is the pseudonym for a medical doctor who falls into this category, and who has begun using his experience and expertise to share a perspective on medicine and health that departs from the 'status quo', or what might be called 'fiat medicine'.
Instead, he is sharing and exploring what might be called 'bitcoin medicine' - and in this podcast we explore what such a thing might mean.
Enjoy!

Growing Centralization of the Bitcoin Mining Sector Public corporations have rapidly dominated the mining sector, primarily through aggressive mergers and acquisitions. By establishing expansive industrial mining infrastructure and consuming incredible amounts of electricity, these entities have positioned themselves at the forefront of the industry. Their dominance is further solidified by their ability to secure funding via traditional Wall Street mechanisms, such as shareholder dilution and convertible notes. This financial leverage affords them several advantages, including procuring large machine orders at prices below market rates, benefiting from reduced transmission and distribution costs, thanks to high-voltage infrastructure, implementing power procurement strategies tailored to bitcoin mining. Such centralization can sideline smaller players, often referred to colloquially as the "plebs", pushing them to the periphery of the industry. Bitcoin is meant to be a P2P decentralized network.
